I started this blog a few years ago, and I’ve blogged rather regularly ever since. At the time I was writing for a beauty website and this allowed me to be my writer self, sharing my thoughts and feelings with wild skirt tucked in pants abandon. It also allowed me to reach out to other writers experiencing the same challenges. I love this blog. It’s not for money or notoriety, so few things are nowadays.
I don’t mind being introduced as someone you should “be careful what you tell because she’ll write about it!“. I love it when people tell me they enjoyed my writing. But I would never infringe on anyone’s privacy. I keep a lot of secrets, I mean you have to keep the best material for your other stories right?
So you can imagine how chuffed I was to receive a Liebster Award nomination.
A what now you say?
The Liebster award is a meme of sorts, a blogger to blogger award. It started some years ago. A blogger nominates 3 bloggers they admire and then asks them 3 questions. As life is life is life, this award has grown arms and legs and there are several different version circulating the web. The strand I am linked to, you nominate 11 bloggers and ask 11 questions. You can only nominate blogs with less than 200 followers. You answer the 11 questions and post them on your blog.
So after being nominated by the lovely Alison Shanley of Second Chance Novel.com, here’s my q and a’s
What was your childhood dream?
To be an actress. I spent three years studying, doing yoga, auditioning and being a tree then realised it wasn’t for me. However it nourished the creative side of me, and I learnt so many life skills, I’d advise it to anyone.
What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Considering what she came through so young, I think she did amazing, I’d just give her a hug. She was one brave cookie. I could probably take better advice from her. I hope i’m doing her proud.
If you had $5, how would you spend it (on yourself)?
Peanut m&ms and a DVD I haven’t seen from the DVD shop (yep some still exist)
What is your favourite TV show or movie?
I’m always surprised people can answer this. I’ always thought i’d need a week just to mull it over there’s so many. But i’ll say True Romance… The story is fab, the acting amazing and the message clear 🙂 UPDATE 2023 – Now it’s Succession.
What meal do you cook the best out of anyone you know?
Cooking is not my thing, loved being cooked for though, I find that pretty special. UPDATE 2023: I cook a lot more than I used to!
Who do you most admire and why?
My friend is travelling at the moment so I’d say him. He’s been everywhere and seen the 7 wonders of the world, (don’t worry I had to Google them too) It’s been fascinating watching him this last year, most people going travelling don’t switch off from social media, so conditioned are we to share everything, but he’s largely switched off. He’s wrapped up experiencing these different cultures and his updates are like postcards, random little snippets of what he’s been up to, always late and unexpected. Non ‘sheep’ type people I always have a soft spot for. You’ll hear more from him anyway as we’re doing some guest blog posts about his travels. Stay tuned 🙂
What is your pet hate?
When people say no when they could have said yes. It drives me crazy. I just think, okay, now I’m going to argue this with you, and you’re going to lose and well, you’ve just wasted both of our time. Nuts. If i think you can say yes, don’t argue with me! Other than that, i’m pretty chilled out..
What habit do you have that drives other people crazy?
I think I’m usually late…. ? UPDATE 2023: My husband will confirm that it’s that I change my mind a lot.
What is something that made you smile in the past week?
Someone ‘big’ agreed to an interview. Hasn’t happened yet but still a great moment ! When his email came through, I was smiling
When was the last time you cried?
I cry all the time, I’m moved by everything, any hardship moves me, more so when it doesn’t have to be like that. A Pisces thing perhaps? There was a programme on about baby penguins going down this cliff and into the water, and there were birds circling them, they were all falling on their tummies, it looked like they were getting hurt. It made me look at penguins, I mean, they’re a crazy design, all little flippers and little feet that don’t reach each other, wobbling around, hopping all over the place.. they don’t have much chance do they? You had to be there, it wasn’t a good moment!!
If you had 1 spare hour in your day, how would you use it?
Think of an idea, it’d be no different to any other hour. Although I did wonder if I’m running out of ideas today. I usually have one bubbling away and I realised I didn’t. Just means I get to tidy up my others. Surprisingly, my head is never empty for long 😉
And here’s my nominees, in an attempt to get things as close to the start as we can, i’m throwing caution to the wind and asking 5 questions.
Jambags – funny, though not sure if he knows that! blog
Jay- honest blog
