Hello!
I am back. I have been so busy doing other things that writing has taken a backseat in my day to day. I’ve talked so much about cultivating good habits in writing in this blog, it is a shame I have not taken my own advice! Write daily, write something, write anything! I have been writing, but in a more controlled environment and my creative spirit has been ‘resting’. My chatter has been directed elsewhere, under another voice.
However.
These are my words, they are on a page. It means I am typing. This is good. A step in the right direction.
It has been a busy year, a journey of discovery, as always, and there’s been the usual array of exciting projects (and tangents). I have found that often times I have been ‘busy being busy’ and have not much to show for it other than a distracted mind, a fitful sleep and disappointed looks from my friends and family.
I have worked with and been taught by some great people who I have leaned lessons from, about business and study. College has not been a creative time for me, despite being on a creative industries course. Apparently nothing gets done in the film and television industry without a log file the size of a small country. Yet, we know that is not true. Time has changed and we are now more focussed on constant and relevant output. The internet ‘we’ of film making I mean here. The business of film making is not too different from the business of business. There needs to be a system in place for a positive process and end goal. Production teams are smaller and roles are multi-faceted.
Time is precious, it trickles away without us noticing. Just like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, ‘I am late…’
